Ann Arbor Chiropractors and Ypsilanti Chiropractors and Joint Pain Relief

Just like how the human body comes in so many shapes and sizes, so do the joints of the human body. These joint types include ball and socket joints, gliding joints, hinge joints, and saddle joints. We are a finely tuned machine when you think about it. Therefore, it’s no surprise that we can experience joint pain with even the slightest joint issue. Ypsilanti Chiropractors and Ann Arbor Chiropractors treat joint pain and the causes of joint pain every single day. One of the leading causes of joint pain can be inflammation in the joint itself!

INFLAMMATION AND JOINT PAIN

The immune system has many creative ways to keep our bodies healthy. One of those ways is through increasing inflammation. Though we often think of it as a bad thing, inflammation can be very beneficial. When you have an injury to the tissues of your body, your immune response will send out chemical messengers that cause inflammation as part of the healing process. But just like anything in life, if you have too much of something, it can lead to bad outcomes. Inflammation is the same way. If there is too much inflammation then that can lead to more pain and tissue damage.

Arthritis is a common syndrome that can be caused by joint inflammation or may result in too much joint inflammation. There are three general classes of arthritis. One is osteoarthritis which is the degeneration of the joints due to things like overuse, prior injury, or even general aging. Neurogenic arthritis is caused by issues of the nervous system that lead to increased wear and tear of a joint like diabetic neuropathy or charcot’s joint. Inflammatory arthritis is a class of arthritis caused by autoimmune conditions. These conditions include but are not limited to rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and sometimes gout. With these conditions, you will see inflammation of the joints.

JOINT INFLAMMATION AND DIET

There is a growing body of research that suggests in some cases, joint inflammation may be caused by dietary triggers. Things like sugar or overly processed foods may increase the inflammatory reaction. Some people with joint inflammation have benefited from a vegan or plant based diet.
